Signs of iPad, iPhone and touch screen addictions in toddlers and kids
Are you one of those parents who are not sure but wondering about their kid’s addiction to touch screen mobiles or tablets or both? Here is the check list to determine if your toddler or child is addicted to these devices:
- Is your toddler confused between real and screen objects? Using gestures in real life with real objects, expecting to undo or replay real life situations as is done on the screens, etc.
- Fantasizing or dreaming about iPad indulgence while asleep! Murmuring about their favorite games, sometimes even making actions with hands while asleep, etc.
- Toddlers throwing tantrums on rejecting iPad time! When the devices are not given on demand the toddler shows the signs of stress or anxiety and gets restless throwing tantrums; may be to an extent that you end up giving them the device or the kid ends up throwing while crying or harming others/itself, getting violent or end up in suffocation!
- Your kid complains of occasional head ache, burning or itching eyes, you observe the signs of strained eyes like dark circles or swollen eyes (yes these are possible in toddlers too!), complain about pain in fingers or wrists, etc.
- Your child shows lack of interest in physical games or activities and also shows lack of attachment towards physical toys.
- Also lookout for the signs of ADHD and check with your doctor if it’s gadget induced situation.
If you see any or all of these signs then your kid is either on the verge of getting addicted to iPad/iPhone or has already become an addict. It is not a good idea to neglect these signs and it is very important to take appropriate measures before it gets too late. Talk to your kid’s pediatrician today.
