(Are you smiling, now that's better.....)

A blog post about 'a technology that you wish existed, or improvements to a technology', this sounds interesting but the more interesting part of it is, it doesn't matter how crazy your idea is! Here is the one part of the topic which actually made me even think of writing a few lines about technology. Its almost four years since I last gave my exams and its now three and a half years now that I even bothered to open a book and read after I resigned my job as a computer lecturer (this is just a chance for me to remember that I know computers and I was once associated to science!...so please bare with these lines?) Here is a come back post of mine with a sincere effort to relate myself to science and technology while I try and support facts with my fiction, and yes, you probably guessed it right- this is a science fiction (its no less than a fiction for me!) based on theories!

Now considering the literate meaning of theory, it says-
an ideal or hypothetical set of facts, principles, or circumstances —often used in the phrase in theory
or abstract thought : speculation
or a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as the basis of action
Thus, as the theories form the bases for facts, here I go with the Whys and Hows part of my fiction hoping it to become reality in the near future! Now who ever has quoted 'its life in your years that matter and not the years in your life'- must have had a secret desire of living a long life with life in his life! As a common human being nobody on this earth would ask for short life unless he is a real yogi (do we find them in today's world?) or depressed insane man attempting for suicide in the quest to get rid of life. We all at some point of time might have gone through a phase of life when we think of our death, our old age or about why the death at all? For some its the word death which haunts all the time, for others its the old age thoughts that bother and for some of them its just the wrinkles on their face ( remember hot at 60+ bolly queen Rekha!) which is no less than a nightmare! All in all what we think off is the aging process, and if you think this as 'O so girlish' then think again, its just the matter of expression, men are real artists in the way they hide tears and worries about their own looks and age.

Coming to the real part, how do we grow old?

Its all science, the science of chemistry and the science of physiology and the theory of free radicals developed on the concepts based on these! Here is a little information associated with this.

Chemistry: is the science of matter and the changes it undergoes being concerned with the composition, behavior, structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes during chemical reactions (for me its just the action and reactions going on in my brain! Just hated this subject during my college days and the dilemma is that am digging into it even without any exams!)

Physiology: is the science of the functioning of living systems. It is a subcategory of biology. In physiology, the scientific method is applied to determine how organisms, organ systems, organs, cells and biomolecules carry out the chemical or physical function that they have in a living system.

The free-radical theory of aging  states that organisms age because cells accumulate free radical which results in damage over time. A free radical is any atom or molecule that has a single unpaired electron in an outer shell.

Antioxidants: are reducing agents, and limit oxidative damage to biological structures by passivating free radicals.

Simply putting these together in the layman's language, the aging process according to me is:

The free radicals produced due to the chemistry in the Physiology of a living body are the root cause for aging and this can be treated using antioxidants (this is the benefit of blogging, you can come up with your own definitions!). You are not at all confused, are you? So, this being the theory, the next part is my idea!

The crazy idea or the technology I wised that existed or come into existence (and that before I decompose!) is:

  • A instrument that would readily oxidize or passivize all the free radicals in the body even if it means adding this as a task to our list of daily routine like  one amongst bathing, eating, brushing etc...(you engineer guys out there, wanna bet! if only you consider it seriously???)
Put your-self in the machine and add some anti-oxidant solution and rinse? And grow young like a baby!
  • Its the age of computers and software, so hoping somebody could really come up with a software were in the body is virtually oxidized for neutralizing free radicals which shows results on actual body! The Matrix  and the Star wars types you see!!! (This is the height of imagination, what say?  And though my hubby is a software engineer I cannot really  discuss  this idea with him, can  I?)
Stopping the free-radicals in the virtual world?
And if this fiction becomes reality as in so many other examples, then God save Mother Earth!

And here is my confession, you can see parts of articles of these links here:

  2. Thanks for dropping by and making your presence felt on the comment box. And also, thanks for your vote for this post on indiblogger. By the way, do you want to tell me that a gal cannot be an engineer and aslo that a boy does not lust for for longevity?
