Stop talking, start acting- change is me and you!

There I see far away, the so called common man of India; a born beautiful and dead ugly. There he stands between the birth and death, wondering about the life he has to lead. Wondering all the time about: how I wish I could change the world around me, how I wish I could end the water problem in this world, how I wish I could bring cent percent literacy, how I wish I could put a full stop to terrorism, how I wish I could bring back the glory to womanhood,  how I wish I could.... and the list continues.

The idea of changing the world conceives the moment the common man sees a problem; it take's birth the moment he realizes the fact that the problem is larger than his life and unreachable to him; it continues to hunt him through out his life; and the idea of changing the world finally dies an unaccomplished death along with him.

When I saw him for the first time, he was far away and looked like an unknown citizen. Suddenly I see him fast approaching me, I am able to see him more clearly. I now have a strange feeling. I feel he is similar to me. I feel  he looks like me. Soon, I know he is nobody but me.
Me, being an unknown citizen of India thinks that my first and for most duty is to use my 'fundamental right to speech' as the weapon to change this world. I think I am changing things around me by talking about the problems. I think my free advices to people around me will make the change that I desire to see. More than 1 billion population of India are talking about bringing the change. I feel proud to be part of it!And the slogan is 'Talk problems to see change'!

I am tired  of bragging about things that are out of my control. I want to stop worrying about all the bad things happening around me. Instead I want to act upon one thing that really pinches me hard amongst the others. I want to stop thinking and start acting. I have now started realizing the importance of doing one thing rather than talking about hundred things.

The first step to change begins from me. I need to think positively and change myself to change the world. I need to practice what I preach and preach what I practice. I remember the well known book  I'm OK, You're OK, by Thomas A Harris which is a self-help book. My wispy memory got back to me with the chapter from the book where the author speaks about the four "life positions" each one of us may take at a point of time in life-
  1. I'm Not OK, You're OK
  2. I'm Not OK, You're Not OK
  3. I'm OK, You're Not OK
  4. I'm OK, You're OK

I want to change my mindset and attain the fourth position which is the ideal life position. I want to see the world in a positive way. Once I have this positive thinking about myself and the world I live in, then changing myself and bringing even the smallest change in the world would be possible.

I want to create myself endlessly as told by Henri L. Bergson, I have decided to change myself as said by Sidney Madwed, I want to be the change I want to see in this world as said by Mahatma Gandhi, I may be just one person but I want to try as said by John F. Kennedy, I definitely want to accept the responsibility for changing the conditions as said by Denis Waitley.

Here is a question- 'if you could change something around you, what would it be'? My answer is- 'something little that I want to change is myself. If every individual thinks of changing himself positively the world would have already changed'.

Do you agree with me? Tell me something about your thoughts on bringing change in the world around you.
